Are you curious or have a deep desire to know who you are and where you come from? The South Plains Genealogical Society may be the place for you. Come join us the second Saturday of the month (excluding summer months and December) from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. We meet in the Mahon Library Community Room, located at 1306 9th Street, Lubbock, Texas.
The Mahon Library has a large genealogy section which is open to the public. If you have a question or just want to come and take a look, come in for a visit. SPGS tries to have a volunteer there most of the time to assist the public. We have resources pertaining to local, state, national and world genealogy.
Membership is not required to attend our meetings but we would love to have you as a member. We have great camaraderie and a lot of information is exchanged at our meetings. In the past we have hosted some great guest speakers, including our very own SPGS members, to address the membership. Membership also includes South Plains Roots, our award-winning newsletter, which is very informative and fun to read.
As we like to say: “How can we know who we are, if we don’t know who our ancestors were?”
