South Plains Genealogical Society is celebrating 65 years of helping West Texans discover and preserve their family stories! Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Mahon Library Community Room for our regular monthly meeting with a special anniversary program.

We’ll share a short look back at how SPGS began in 1961—sparked by a DAR workshop and strengthened by early support from Texas Tech University—and how our long-standing partnership with the Lubbock Library helped grow SPGS into the community it is today. We’ll also have a few fun “then and now” moments, recognition of past presidents and volunteers, and a display of timeline boards highlighting key milestones.

Coffee and treats will be provided.
Beginners and guests are welcome!
